Only the view changes. Hold your real cube as instructed.

The top-front edge has no yellow. Its front color matches the front center and its top color matches the right center.

Hold it like this

In the demo, green is front and red is right. On your cube, choose the front that fits the piece.

Read the moves
  1. Look straight at the top face. Turn only that face a quarter turn clockwise.
  2. Look straight at the right face. Turn only that face a quarter turn clockwise.
  3. Look straight at the top face. Turn only that face a quarter turn counterclockwise.
  4. Look straight at the right face. Turn only that face a quarter turn counterclockwise.
  5. Look straight at the top face. Turn only that face a quarter turn counterclockwise.
  6. Look straight at the front face. Turn only that face a quarter turn counterclockwise.

The front-right middle edge is home. Find and realign another edge without yellow.

My cube looks different

Not every color needs to match the example. Compare the piece you are working on and the nearby centers. If no case matches, check the step-by-step help below.

Keep the yellow center up and the white center down. Keep the same front until the whole move sequence ends.

Are the white bottom and the bottom two rows of every side solved?

The picture is an example. Check the written condition on your own cube.

Stuck? Review this step

Finish the first layer first. Align a non-yellow top edge’s side sticker to its center with U, and face that side. Use the right insertion if the top sticker matches the right center, or the left insertion if it matches the left center. For a wrong or flipped middle edge, put its slot at front-right and insert a yellow top edge with the right algorithm to eject it. Realign and insert the ejected piece correctly. Check all four middle edges on the real cube.

  • Leave edges with yellow for later.
  • After choosing right or left, keep the same front through all eight moves.

Into the right home

The top-front edge has no yellow. Its front color matches the front center and its top color matches the right center.

In the demo, green is front and red is right. On your cube, choose the front that fits the piece.

The front-right middle edge is home. Find and realign another edge without yellow.

Into the left home

The top-front edge has no yellow. Its front color matches the front center and its top color matches the left center.

In the demo, green is front and red is right. On your cube, choose the front that fits the piece.

  1. Look straight at the top face. Turn only that face a quarter turn counterclockwise.
  2. Look straight at the left face. Turn only that face a quarter turn counterclockwise.
  3. Look straight at the top face. Turn only that face a quarter turn clockwise.

The front-left middle edge is home. Choose and insert edges until all four are solved.

Take out a trapped edge

The first layer is solved, but the front-right middle edge is wrong and there is no non-yellow top edge to insert.

In the demo, green is front and red is right. On your cube, choose the front that fits the piece.

  1. Look straight at the top face.
  7. Look straight at the top face. Turn only that face a quarter turn clockwise.
  8. Look straight at the front face. Turn only that face a quarter turn clockwise.

U R U' R' U' F' U F

The trapped edge is now on top. Find that non-yellow edge, align its side color, and choose the right or left insertion.

What do the letters mean?

R right, L left, U top, D bottom, F front, B back. Look straight at the face you turn: a letter means a clockwise quarter turn, a prime (′) means counterclockwise, and 2 means a half turn.
